Writing a good article requires a structured approach, clear ideas and thorough editing. Here are some steps to guide you through the process.

  1. Understand the assignment:Before you start writing, make sure you understand the purpose of your assignment. Determine the purpose of your work and how it relates to what you learned in class.

  1. Pre-Writing and Research:Decide on your topic based on your interests or task requirements. Conduct research using primary and secondary sources to gather evidence for your points. This research will help you develop your thesis, central point, or argument you want to make.
  1. Thesis: Write a short thesis that summarizes your research. This is usually the first sentence of your article, so it is your reader’s introduction to the topic.
  1. Create an outline: Map out the structure of your essay with an outline. It should include an introduction, a body paragraph and a conclusion. The introduction should attract the attention of the reader, introduce the topic and present the thesis. The text paragraphs should logically support your thesis, and the conclusion should summarize the main points of your article.
  1. Writing: Start writing your first draft without worrying about perfection. Just put your thoughts on paper. Be sure to use details, examples, and vivid images to help the reader see your point. “Show, don’t tell”.
